Ronald Frank Raymond began his career with the Strathcona County Fire Department in 1978 as a Volunteer Fire Fighter. In 1980, Ron became a Full-Time Fire Fighter with the department. Throughout his career in Strathcona County, Ron not only worked to advance his own standing by becoming a Paramedic and training as a Qualified Officer; he led the membership of I.A.F.F. Local 2461 as Union President. During his term as Union President, Ron was instrumental in the development of the Strathcona Firefighters' Honour Guard.

Ron passed away from job-related illness on July 17th, 1993. He was honoured with a Class II Fire Department Funeral Service. Perhaps through fate, Ron's Funeral Service was the first formal service conducted by the Guard that he had helped to develop. Ron's name and personal information have been placed on the Strathcona Fallen Fire Fighters' Memorial in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada.
